Fighting A Wild Fire Is Like Playing A Tournament Soccer Game
How on Earth is it possible to fight a California Wildfire that is completely out of control? Well, not long ago a friend of mine said that it’s a lot like playing a championship tournament. Indeed, I had not considered that analogy, team sports, especially like soccer is apropos to fighting fires.
For instance, in soccer you work your way strategically through the defense using all your assets and team to score the goal. Spending half a billion dollars to fight wild fires in Northern California, that’s what they are doing right now (passing the ball and working through the defense) is indeed a huge burden on the taxpayer.
Thus, it makes no sense at all to do all that, and then fail or become afraid to score the goal and extinguish that fire. Once you come all that way, you must use the aerial technology (give the ball to the striker) and score! Thank you so much for putting this analogy to great use. Soccer and Fire Fighting are similar in tactics and theory.
We must use our aerial fire-fighting assets day and night, right now they are only allowed to do fire drops in the light of day, but several fire departments have done after dark aerial fire-fighting assaults with great success.
“Fighting a Wild Fire is Like Playing a Tournament Soccer Game” and if you are going to engage in such a battle of wits with one of the most ominous forces on the surface of this planet, you have to play to win and hold nothing back.
