Self-talk is your thoughts making themselves known to you. Low self esteem brings with it very negative self-talk. Negative self-talk can lead to low self esteem, no confidence or even depression and this leads to more negative thought. That s right, our self-talk, or the words our inner dialogue uses when we think, can increase our stress levels, limit our potential, and affect our experiences in life. As it subtly darkens what you perceive and what you dwell on, negative self-talk can alter how you experience stress. Science has proven that when your self-talk is negative, you perceive things as more stressful. Negative self-talk is very damaging because your subconscious believes what you say to yourself especially when you repeat that negative talk in your mind over and over. Negative self-talk becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
