I know it is easier to use another person’s site.

I also know that it is easier to have all the tools in one place and work with a great site that has all the bells and whistles.

I also realise that the chances are that you couldn’t make a site even if your life depended on it.

But, easy depends on how you look at it.

For example, it is easy to work a job. The pay comes in regularly, there is a certain amount of stability involved, and if you work well and keep everyone happy, you will earn a good wage.

But is this easy?

It certainly gives the appearance of easy. But the idea of working 40 odd hours a week for about 40 years does not sound so easy to me.

My father made shoes from the age of 14 until he retired at 60. Inside a factory with stinking glues and heat, the wage was not good, and when the company got into trouble, they had no issue in making him redundant even after years of company loyalty.

Here is a little heads up from me, companies are not loyal to people, regardless of what they say. They will use your time and pay you for it, but stop turning up and see how long you keep getting paid. Which means, the loyalty only goes so far as you being able to turn up and work. Get sick for too long and you will see what is meant by loyalty from a company.

This is effectively what you are doing when you promote another person’s site. The site is good and most likely works well enough, but if the owner decides to stop the site, your list (ie your hard work) goes with the owner.

You are entirely at their whim. What if the owner gets sick or dies? It happens. Regardless of the goodness of the owner, we are all vulnerable.

Now, I am not saying having a site is a panacea to the problems. It isn’t, but it gives you a huge element of control over what you do with your resources, namely your list.

It also makes you an owner, and it is only in being an owner where you have a true chance of making a lot of money.

Work for others, you will always be the slave to the company, regardless of whether it is online or offline. Even a small company can make you very rich.
