How on Earth is it possible to fight a California Wildfire that is completely out of control? Well, not long ago a friend of mine said that it’s a lot like playing a championship tournament. Indeed, I had not considered that analogy, team sports, especially like soccer is apropos to fighting fires.

For instance, in soccer you work your way strategically through the defense using all your assets and team to score the goal. Spending half a billion dollars to fight wild fires in Northern California, that’s what they are doing right now (passing the ball and working through the defense) is indeed a huge burden on the taxpayer.

Considered both a sport and a mode of transportation, skateboarding has found its way into mainstream culture and can be seen not only on the streets and in neighborhoods, but also on TV, in movies and in advertisements across the nation.

The origins of skateboarding are tricky, at best. Some consider it erupted out of an accidental phenomenon-that is, when kids on soap-boxes in the 1930s and 1940s detached the box from the soap-box cart off the plank and attached rollerskate wheels to the plank. Because electric guitars are quite different in the way that they produce the sound, the body of an electric guitar is built quite differently to that of an acoustic or classical one. On a classical guitar, the strings, when plucked or struck, resonate, vibrating the air inside the body cavity. This hollow body cavity vibrates with the sound of the strings, and amplifies the notes. On an electric guitar however, the sound is amplified only by an external, electronic amplifier, and so the body of an electric guitar is usually solid, since no air vibration or cavity is needed. Indeed, without the external amplifier the sound of an electric guitar on its own is fairly pitiful. The body of an electric guitar is usually made of wood, although the pick guard is normally plastic.
